In 2012, the municipal council has granted a mandate to the environmental consultants firm Biofilia in order to proceed to the environmental characterisation of the territory and, more particularly, on the Lac-des-Seize-Îles territory.

The mandate was to execute an exhaustive environmental analysis ‘’including the description of the territory, the analysis and interpretation of the results as well as recommendations concerning the management of the territory.’’

The territory has been split in two very distinctive zones: the watersheds of the Seize-Îles, Wonish, Grand-Héron and Laurel lakes.
